This custom handcrafted ornament honors the memory of Pope John Paul II. European Master Artists spent hours hand-blowing and hand-painting these exquisite glass ornaments using the Old World Tradition of Poland, the home of the late Pope. The sculptural relief image of Mary was derived from an original 16th Century, Peruvian Colonial Oil Painting of the “Cusco Madonna”. Peru was a country that Pope John Paul II visited on one of his many official trips to foreign countries.
“Totus Tuus, Maria!” (Latin; translation: “I am all yours, Mary!”- the slogan of Pope John Paul II), plus his name in Latin and the date of his birth and death are painted on the back of each ornament. The Pope’s secretary, Archbishop Stanislaw Dziwisz reported that “Totus Tuus, Maria” were among the last words Pope John Paul directed to Mary on his deathbed. | |

The Back of the Ornament
The candle on the back of the ornaments represents the candle that, according to Polish tradition, burned in our Holy Father’s room where visitors prayed as he lay dying. It is also a symbol of Light One Candle's eternal tribute to Pope John Paul II. These original custom ornaments have been produced upon request and they are few in number. Each is a beautiful heirloom that can be displayed and treasured year-round. The Madonna Ornament is approximately 3 inches wide by 6 inches long.
